Board Members & OfficersMeredith Carmichael: SecretaryMeredith graduated from University of North Texas. While in college, she was involved in the Resident Hall Association. She held several positions, including Recycling Chairperson and President of her dorm association. She was active in campus recycling programs, including working as the assistant to the Director of Recycling. She has experience with project management, as well as communication and community development. Jason Evans (JJ): Vice-PresidentJJ has 4 years experience as a Facility Technician for UNT. This job includes repair, carpentry, running both light and sound systems, and event management. He worked 3 years as a contractor building test systems and wire control systems. Some of the companies that he worked at during this time include Motorala, FSI, CSE, and AFI. He worked 1½ years at an electrical company and then 2 years at Cable Electronics as the Supervisor of Production. Those duties included building, testing repair, and training personnel. He also spent 10 years as a Naval Avation Electrical Technician and achieved Senior Technician. He is also the Building Project Manager. Lynn Sallee: President and TreasurerLynn graduated from UNT . She is a Registered Massage Therapist and teacher. She has been involved with the community for years, volunteering for the Food Center in Denton, as well as the Free Clothing Room while it operated in Denton. She began Community Service Appreciation for Denton Massage in 2002, and became an Adopt-A-School Partner for Denton ISD and then an Adopt-A-School board member. She averages 27 hours of volunteering each month with the school district. In 2003, she was inducted into the Native Texan Hall of Fame (nominated by the Chairman himself) and was given the Top Public Servant Award by Denton ISD. In 2004 and 2005, Denton ISD awarded her Top Adopter Working With Staff. In 2006, she was awarded Best Adoptor Denton ISD Appreciation Award.
She is Vice President - Consumers for the Cross Timbers Food Cooperative, a member of the Sustainable Living Council and operates www.insidedenton.com
She has experience in grant writing and research, and has a knack for the paperwork.
Sherry Stevens: Board of Directors memberSherry has made it her life's mission to help others reconnect to the earth and community. Her goals are promoting sustainability and self sufficiency. She is a certified Permaculturist with knowledge of several natural building techniques including strawbale, cob, earthbag, and adobe, and has taken classes on community building. She has 8 years of experience in organic gardening. Sherry is also a certified alternative fuels technician for motor vehicles, lending her expertise to the '96 Olympic's Natural Gas motor vehicle pool.
She is currently a teacher, a web designer, and a member of several activist groups that promote world change. She is Treasurer of the Cross Timbers Food Cooperative, a member of the Sustainable Living Council, and Keep Denton Beautiful.
